Radio Network Upgrades Big Play Radio Sports has accepted a consulting role to assist Ball State Sports as the university re-designs and upgrades its football and basketball radio broadcasts for the 2008-09 school year. The project will include upgrading primary connection capabilities as well as the quality of the feeds sent to affiliates in both Indianapolis and Ft. Wayne. In addition, the broadcast equipment at the game sites will be upgraded to digital components. Brian Giffin, president of BPRS met with Ball State officials on May 29 th as the two parties laid out the framework for the upgrades. “We are very excited to be a part of this process with a great university and athletic programs that are on the rise,” Giffin stated, “Ball State has a great tradition on radio with the legendary Morry Manies calling the action. We very much look forward to partnering with the university to bring state of the art quality to their broadcasts”. Giffin played an instrumental role in the technical development of the Minnesota Twins new radio network that launched in 2007 and has continually upgraded the broadcasts of Butler University Football, which he has called since 2002. Giffin will also continue in the football play by play role at Butler in 2008. Giffin was responsible for numerous technical upgrades and innovations while broadcasting the Indianapolis Indians from 1993-2003. “We take a great deal of pride in the quality of the broadcasts we're involved in,” added Giffin, “Ball State fans that have loved listening to Morry for all these years will have even more to look forward to quality wise this coming year.” Ball State opens 2008 on Thursday, August 28 th as the Cardinals host Northeastern at 7pm. “Cara was the love of my life” Giffin stated, “life will not be the same without her. No sunny day will ever be quite as bright for me, but life will go on and we'll do what she would have wanted, make every broadcast the best
it can be.”
A fund that benefits breast cancer research is being set up
